Thursday 19th May 2022 . I had a most enjoyable day in Lowick, Northumbria on a Ron McCombe Birds of Prey Photography Workshop.
We were at Andy Howie's Studio using his Birds of Prey.
We photographed nine different birds of Prey.
This album was me photographing a Black Barn Owl in Flight. The Black Barn Owl was flying from a high perch in the studio against a black background. Onto a perch to get food.
I preferred when the Black Barn Owl was flying straight towards my camera and lens.
Here are 7 images I kept. Before the Black Barn Owl had had enough food and the game was over for it.
All images are uncropped . The bird was soon full in the camera frame. It was a challenge determining at what angle it would fly in towards the perch.
Well worth contacting Ron McCombe if you enjoy wildlife photograph. You don't need a long lens. Birds are about 2 metres from you at most.
For the birds in flight I used a Canon EF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM Lens at wide angle. For birds in pose. I used a Canon 70 – 200 f2.8 L IS II USM lens. Ron and Andy give great photography advice if you need it to get right settings for camera in studio setting.
Ron also has a badger and a wild birds hide in Scottish Borders. Both are terrific for photography. |
