Monday 27th May 2024 Rosslyn Chapel is normally not lit after sunset.
I took a strong hand torch and set up my camera on a tripod. I set camera to take a 30 seconds exposure in darkness. During the 30 seconds I used the hand torch and shone it evenly on the walls of Rosslyn Chapel. Idea was to paint light onto the walls for the camera to register.
I originally did this light painting photography at Rosslyn Chapel a week before on 20th May 2024. The Chapel staff got in touch and invited me back to photograph with the interior lights on in the Chapel. These lights would illuminate the stain glass windows.
I am pleased with the resulting images. See also the darkness image without the light painting. The interior lights on added something to the images with the stain glass windows lit.
I was in position at 9.40pm at sunset. I stayed on until midnight. By then condensation was coming onto the front of my lens in the chilly night air.
